Russia has launched investigations into flowers exported to the country from Iran.
Modern.az reports that the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has issued a statement on the matter.
According to the information, the agency has requested the relevant Iranian authorities to temporarily suspend the issuance of phytosanitary certificates for flower products sent to Russia.
Rosselkhoznadzor stated that the volume of flower supplies from Iran to Russia in 2026 has significantly increased compared to last year.
The agency's statement noted that although Iran is indicated as the country of origin in the phytosanitary certificates, their appearance and packaging are identical to products previously imported from Armenia.
"Iran is indicated as the place of origin of the products in the phytosanitary certificates. However, the external characteristics and packaging of the products are identical to those previously imported from Armenia," the statement emphasized.
It should be recalled that restrictions on the import of flowers from Armenia to Russia came into force on May 22 of this year. Against the backdrop of the new situation, the Russian side is investigating the possibility of Armenian products entering the country via Iran.
