The European Union has expanded its list of sanctions against Russia. Five companies and one individual have been included in the new restrictions.

Modern.az reports, citing Russian media, that the strikes on Kyiv were cited as the basis for the imposition of sanctions for the first time.

This refers to the attacks carried out on Kyiv on the nights of July 1 and 5.

All parties included in the sanctions list are reportedly associated with the “ABS Electro” group of companies, which develops and produces electronic and radio-electronic components for unmanned aerial vehicles.

The list includes Irina Kharysova, chairman of the company's board of directors, and five enterprises that contributed to the development of systems that enhance the capabilities of Russia's “Shahed” and “Geran” unmanned aerial vehicles.

In addition, it was noted that these companies produce automated control systems for the Russian energy sector.

It should be noted that the 21st package of sanctions against Russia, announced in June, provides for restrictions against the country's energy sector and companies producing unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as a temporary freeze on the price ceiling for Russian oil.

Greece opposed the adoption of the sanctions package. According to the “Financial Times”, the reason for this is the interests of Greek business in liquefied natural gas supplies.
