Armenia's acquisition of large quantities of weapons and military equipment from India in recent years is being closely monitored by official Baku.

Modern.az reports that among these weapons are 155 mm/52 caliber ATAGS, Trajan, and Dhanush artillery systems.

In particular, although long-range artillery systems such as ATAGS and Trajan, demonstrated during the recent military parade in Armenia, attract attention due to their technical characteristics, they will not have military utility in a theoretical military conflict with Azerbaijan.

This assessment is given taking into account the geographical features of our conditional border line with Armenia. A large part of the Azerbaijan-Armenia border consists of mountainous and foothill areas, which significantly complicates the movement and deployment of heavy artillery systems.

Thus, ATAGS and Trajan systems, weighing approximately 18 tons, may face maneuverability problems on narrow mountain roads and in complex terrain conditions. Changing positions and camouflaging these long-barreled howitzers is also considered more difficult.

It should not be forgotten that in modern combat conditions, the existence of artillery installations depends not only on their firing range but also on their ability to change positions without being detected. In this regard, it is a fact that heavy and large-sized systems will become easier targets for the unmanned aerial vehicles, high-precision missiles, and kamikaze drones in our Army's arsenal.

The unmanned aerial vehicles, strike drones, reconnaissance assets, and high-precision missile systems developed by the Azerbaijani Army in recent years undoubtedly possess the greatest firepower in the region. In this regard, detecting and destroying heavy artillery installations deployed in open or semi-open positions would not pose a serious problem for Azerbaijan.

Although Armenia's long-range artillery systems are more effectively used in flat and desert areas, their advantages are completely lost in the complex mountainous terrain of the South Caucasus. For this reason, ideas that the expensive artillery systems Armenia acquired from India could change the military balance are an illusion.

Although Yerevan's armament policy in recent years is mostly assessed as an attempt to create a military balance, these attempts are zero against the background of Azerbaijan's technological superiority, combat experience, and modern strike capabilities, which possesses the strongest army in the region.
