Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that, according to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, during the conversation, which lasted approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes, the parties discussed the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East and the prospects of Russia-US relations.
According to the information, at the beginning of the conversation, Putin congratulated Trump and the American people on the 250th anniversary of the country's independence.
The Russian President informed the US leader about the situation in Ukraine, stating that the Russian Armed Forces are advancing on the front and taking control of new settlements.
In turn, Donald Trump noted that after the end of the conflict in Ukraine, broad opportunities for cooperation between Russia and the United States could arise.
The situation in the Middle East was also discussed during the phone conversation. Putin emphasized that Moscow is ready to provide practical support aimed at ensuring stability in the region.
In addition, the Russian President reminded Trump of his standing invitation to visit Russia. It was stated that US President's special representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will continue their mediation efforts on Ukraine.
The parties also discussed common historical moments between Russia and the United States. Putin recalled Russia's contribution to the formation of US statehood, as well as the fact that Moscow and Washington were allies in World War II.
