Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken has called on US President Donald Trump to refrain from criticizing Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Modern.az reports that he spoke about this in an interview with Politico.
Francken stated that although Trump is an important ally for Europe, he should not target Meloni.
“Of course, we need him as our ally. But don't touch Meloni. She is the queen of the center-right movement in Europe. She is the alpha. Leave her alone,” the minister said.
Theo Francken also did not hide his sympathy for the head of the Italian government.
“I love her. She is conservative, she fully shares my views. So why would you argue? Because of a photo?” emphasized the Belgian Defense Minister.
