In Paris, the capital of France, the Court of Appeal has issued a verdict in the case of parliamentary assistants against Marine Le Pen, the leader of the "National Rally" Party.
Modern.az reports that, according to the court's decision, Marine Le Pen has been sentenced to 3 years in prison. One year of the sentence is to be served under electronic bracelet supervision.
Marine Le Pen stated last November that if the Court of Appeal upheld the ban on her participation in elections, she would not be a candidate in the 2027 French presidential elections.
It should be noted that a court case was held in Paris against Marine Le Pen and 26 other representatives of her party regarding the illegal use of European Parliament funds.
According to the investigation's claim, they illegally directed funds allocated by the European Parliament to finance the activities of parliamentary assistants.
