The ranking of local cheese prices in the world has been announced.

Modern.az reports that the international statistics platform "Numbeo" has released information on this. In the report, Azerbaijan was in the spotlight with its affordable prices.

Among nearly 100 countries on the list, Azerbaijan was chosen as the 3rd country where local cheese is the cheapest. According to the platform, the average price of one kilogram of locally produced cheese in our country is 4.32 dollars (approximately 7.34 AZN), with which Azerbaijan ranks 99th in the rating.

Azerbaijan leads the top 5 countries offering the cheapest local cheese in the world, after Egypt (5.88 AZN) and Iran (6.70 AZN). The next places are shared by Nigeria (7.79 AZN) and India (7.82 AZN).

Compared to neighboring and regional countries, prices in Azerbaijan are much lower. Thus, in border countries, a kilogram of local cheese is sold two or three times more expensive than in our country:

• Armenia: 82nd place - 13.24 AZN

• Georgia: 80th place - 13.43 AZN

• Turkey: 63rd place - 15.88 AZN

• Russia: 26th place - 21.76 AZN (approximately 3 times more expensive than Azerbaijan)

At the top of the rating are European countries with astronomical prices. The most expensive local cheese in the world is in Switzerland. Thus, the average price of one kilogram of cheese here is 46.58 manats. The top five most expensive also include Hong Kong (38.13 AZN), Luxembourg (36.36 AZN), France (34.00 AZN) and Austria (34.00 AZN).
