In January-May 2026, Azerbaijan's non-oil sector exports (excluding non-monetary gold) increased by 16.6 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.5 billion US dollars.

Modern.az reports that this information was provided in the June 2026 issue of the "Export Review" by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC).

According to the review, in May of the current year, non-oil sector exports increased by 27.2 percent compared to the corresponding month of last year, amounting to 396.7 million US dollars.

During the reporting period, food product exports increased by 23.8 percent to 144.6 million US dollars, and non-food product exports increased by 30.7 percent to 288.5 million US dollars.

In January-May, a significant increase was recorded in the export of several products. Thus, sugar exports increased 4.2 times, and cotton yarn exports increased 2.4 times. Exports of fats and oils of vegetable and animal origin increased by 57 percent, exports of aluminum and products made from it by 44.6 percent, exports of cotton fiber by 25 percent, exports of fruits and vegetables by 18.6 percent, exports of tea by 16.8 percent, and exports of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by 6 percent.

Positive dynamics continued in the agricultural sector. In the first five months, agricultural product exports increased by 25.2 percent to 414.5 million US dollars, and agro-industrial product exports increased by 39 percent to 160.5 million US dollars. Thus, the combined exports of agricultural and agro-industrial products increased by 28.8 percent, reaching 575.1 million US dollars.

Among non-oil products exported, gold maintained its leadership. The value of gold exports during the reporting period amounted to 167.6 million US dollars. Tomatoes followed with 119.8 million US dollars and copper ores with 112.5 million US dollars.

In May, the most exported non-oil product was tomatoes, with 44.6 million US dollars. Gold ranked second with 36.5 million US dollars, and strawberries ranked third with 26.6 million US dollars.

Regarding export indicators by country, in January-May 2026, Russia was the largest buyer of Azerbaijan's non-oil products with 433.7 million US dollars. Non-oil products worth 306.1 million US dollars were exported to Turkey, 229.7 million US dollars to Georgia, 178.7 million US dollars to Switzerland, and 67.9 million US dollars to Ukraine.

In May, Russia remained the main export market. Non-oil products worth 127.1 million US dollars were exported to this country, 86.8 million US dollars to Turkey, 53.8 million US dollars to Georgia, 39.1 million US dollars to Switzerland, and 15.2 million US dollars to the USA.
