Kazakhstan is negotiating with Azerbaijan, China and Turkmenistan regarding the import of aviation fuel.
Modern.az reports that Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov made a statement to local media.
According to the minister, currently, cooperation opportunities are being considered not only with neighboring countries but also with distant foreign countries regarding the supply of aviation fuel.
He stated that private companies in Kazakhstan have already purchased 3 thousand tons of Jet A-1 aviation fuel from abroad. Yesterday, the first flight was served with that fuel. The refueling was carried out by "KazMunayGaz-Aero", the national operator of the country.
Regarding Turkmenistan, the minister noted that aviation fuel is openly sold through the stock exchange in that country. The participation of Kazakh companies in these auctions will depend on the volume of fuel offered for sale.
According to the National Statistics Bureau of Kazakhstan, the production of aviation fuel in the country has reached its highest level in the last 13 years. Thus, 96.4 thousand tons of aviation fuel were produced in May 2026.
Currently, Russia is traditionally the main supplier of aviation fuel to Kazakhstan. Although Russia has imposed a ban on the export of aviation kerosene from June, supplies to Kazakhstan have been maintained as an exception and will continue.
