The world's largest gold mines have been announced.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that giant deposits located in the USA, Uzbekistan, Indonesia and Russia are in the top five.
The Nevada Gold Mines complex in the USA is in the first place. The enterprise produces 83.9 tons of gold per year and is considered the world's largest gold producer. The project is a joint venture of Barrick and Newmont companies.
Uzbekistan's Muruntau mine is in the second place. The deposit, which produces 83.3 tons of gold annually, is considered one of the world's largest open-pit gold mines.
Indonesia's Grasberg deposit is in the third place. 57.9 tons of gold are produced here annually. The mine also has one of the world's largest copper and gold reserves.
Russia's Olimpiada deposit, located in the Siberian region, is in the fourth place. The enterprise produced 44.8 tons of gold last year.
The top five was completed by Uzbekistan's Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex. Annual gold production here amounted to 34.6 tons.
