Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev answered questions from Tural Sadigli, who introduced himself as a journalist during an official visit to Germany.
Modern.az reports that Tural Sadigli approached Hikmat Hajiyev, who was part of the delegation during President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to Germany, and asked various questions.
During the conversation, Hikmat Hajiyev stated that professional media operates in Azerbaijan and said that he does not consider Tural Sadigli's activities to be journalism.
"There is professional media in Azerbaijan. But the hardest thing in life is to betray your homeland, to betray the state. I just feel sorry for those people. This means living without a homeland," he said.
The President's assistant added that blaming Azerbaijan for what happened in his personal life is not the right approach.
"You lived here as an Azerbaijani citizen, and then you left the country for various reasons. This is your own decision. It is not right to blame Azerbaijan for events that happened in your life or that you don't know about. I think a person should first and foremost be accountable to himself," Hikmat Hajiyev emphasized.
In response to Tural Sadigli's question about returning to Azerbaijan, Hikmat Hajiyev stated that anyone who is an Azerbaijani citizen can come to the country. He noted that legal matters are within the competence of the relevant authorities.
At the end of the conversation, Hikmat Hajiyev criticized Tural Sadigli's activities, saying:
"You call yourself a journalist, but this profession is not journalism. What you are doing is, in a certain sense, blogging. You are creating blackmail. This is not journalism."
