Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev made a harsh statement against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Modern.az reports that Medvedev accused Zelenskyy on the social network X of attempting to disrupt peace talks and stated that he was responsible for the drone attack on President Vladimir Putin's residence in the Novgorod region.
Medvedev used derogatory and insulting expressions about the Ukrainian leader. According to him, after this, the Ukrainian president will have no choice but to hide at least until the end of his “worthless life.”
In turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Russia would not respond diplomatically to the attempted attack on Putin's residence.
"The responses will not be diplomatic. They should not hope for that," she said.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that on the night of December 29, Ukraine attempted to attack Putin's residence using 91 drones and, according to him, these aircraft were destroyed by air defense systems. He emphasized that such actions would not go unanswered.
Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov stated that during a phone conversation, Vladimir Putin warned US President Donald Trump that Russia would reconsider its position on Ukraine after this incident. According to Ushakov, Trump was "shocked and angered" and said, "Thank God we didn't give Zelenskyy 'Tomahawk' missiles."
Donald Trump himself, speaking to journalists, called the attack on Putin's residence "very bad" and stated that now "is the wrong time for all of this."
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in turn, rejected the accusations and called the information about the attack "another Russian lie." He said that Russia invents lies to attack government buildings in Kyiv, as well as to disrupt peace efforts and justify its refusal to negotiate.
