Iran has announced its readiness to play an active role in future security issues in the region.
Modern.az reports that Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, commented on the processes taking place around his country in an interview with "Sputnik Armenia".
The ambassador noted that no power vacuum emerged in the country after the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. According to him, although Iran lost some important figures, a new leader was elected, and internal stability was maintained.
The diplomat emphasized that during aggression against Iran, the opposing side pursued two main strategic objectives: to collapse the governance system and to weaken the Iranian army, but neither of these goals was achieved.
He also stated that Tehran considers the possibility of a potential ground intervention and has concrete plans against this scenario. The ambassador added that such a possibility becomes even more relevant amidst the confusion and tension arising in the US, especially against the backdrop of Donald Trump's stance.
The ambassador also touched upon the Zangezur corridor. Khalil Shirgholami stated that, considering the US participation in the TRIPP project, Iran's concerns in this context have further increased after the war.
