Official Tehran demands compensation from five countries.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in the letter of Amir Saeed Iravani, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN.
He noted that Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and Jordan should pay compensation for their roles in the US-Israel operation against Iran.
Amir Saeed Iravani sent the relevant letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the President of the Security Council.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan must pay full compensation for all material and moral damage caused to the Islamic Republic of Iran as a result of their actions contrary to international law,” the letter states.
Iravani explained this by saying that these countries not only provided their territories for attacks against Iran, but in some cases directly participated in “illegal armed attacks targeting civilian objects.”
“The permission of these states for their territories to be used by aggressors is considered an act of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he added.
Fatima Muhajirani, an official representative of the Iranian government, told “RIA Novosti” that the damage caused to Iran as a result of US and Israeli bombardments is estimated at 270 billion dollars according to preliminary calculations.
Iran and the US started negotiations in Islamabad on April 11. Earlier, Donald Trump announced that a two-week ceasefire agreement with Tehran had been reached on the night of April 8. However, already on the morning of April 12, Vice President Jay Di Vance, who led the US delegation, announced that the parties could not reach an agreement.
Later, Trump stated that the US would blockade all ships trying to enter and exit the Strait of Hormuz. He also ordered the US Navy to track and seize all ships that pay Iran for passage through the strait.
On February 28, the US and Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Iran. Tel Aviv stated that the purpose of the strikes was to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Trump, on the other hand, announced his intention to destroy the Iranian navy and defense industry, and also called on the country's citizens to overthrow the regime.
Tehran responded by targeting Israeli territory and US bases in the Middle East.
