Marco Rubio has approved the sale of weapons worth a total of $25.8 billion to US allies in the Middle East through an urgent procedure.
Modern.az reports that "Bloomberg" has published information about this.
According to the information, the arms supply is intended for Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Under the package, the sale of hundreds of “Patriot PAC-3 MSE” and “GEM-T” anti-aircraft missile interceptors, mainly used for defense against ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, is planned.
However, the information notes that the accelerated approval of the sale does not mean that the weapons will be delivered in a short time. It is stated that the production capabilities of this type of missiles in the US are limited, and a large part of future batches have already been pre-ordered.
It should be noted that Washington had previously approved an accelerated arms sale of $8.6 billion. It is emphasized that the difference between the new figure and the previous indicator is due to technical and legal procedures. The US administration considers these agreements not as new sales, but as amendments to previously approved agreements.
