Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok has rejected the resignation demand of new Prime Minister Péter Magyar and announced that he will continue his term within the framework of the Constitution.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that the president stated he sees no reason for resignation.
Tamás Sulyok noted that his presidential oath is not tied to a specific political force, but to the entire political nation:
“My presidential oath carries responsibility before the entire political nation, and there is no legal basis for resignation.”
According to information, the confrontation began after the “Tisza” Party won a two-thirds majority in the elections.
Prime Minister Péter Magyar demanded the resignation of a number of officials associated with the previous government, including the president. He stated that if this demand is not met by May 31, constitutional mechanisms will be used.
