The number of people missing as a result of the devastating flood disaster in Nepal and China has approached 1,500.
Modern.az reports that the number of missing people in Nepal has reached 826. Among them, nearly 600 are reported to be foreign citizens.
In China's Tibet region, 558 people have been declared missing. Thus, the fate of approximately 1,400-1,500 people in total across the two countries remains unknown.
The disaster began with the collapse of a glacier in the Himalayas, causing powerful floods and mudslides. The natural disaster has caused serious damage to important transport routes, settlements, and infrastructure between Nepal and China.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Difficult terrain, collapsed roads, and communication problems complicate the work of rescuers. According to official data, the number of fatalities continues to rise.
