US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Ratcliffe visited Russia. The purpose of the visit is reportedly to deter Moscow from possible military escalation against NATO countries.

Modern.az reports that The Wall Street Journal and Politico published this information, citing their sources.

According to the publications, Ratcliffe came to Moscow specifically to warn the Russian authorities about a possible attack on the Baltic countries - Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

"The meeting was primarily aimed at deterring Russia from any escalation against the Baltic countries," one of the sources who spoke to Politico said.

The sources did not disclose exactly who Ratcliffe met with in Moscow. The Kremlin previously stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not meet with the CIA director. According to the Russian side's statement, Ratcliffe's visit was for "contacts between special services."

It should be noted that these reports are based on sources from The Wall Street Journal and Politico, and no official statement has been made about the existence of a concrete plan by Moscow to attack NATO countries.
