The Russian authorities have proposed clarifying the procedure for medical examination of contract soldiers and those called up for mobilization, and are considering canceling the mandatory fitness check.
Modern.az reports with reference to local media that the Russian Ministry of Defense proposes that medical examination of contract soldiers and those called up for mobilization should be carried out only in case of injuries or certain diseases.
Currently, medical examination is mandatory before signing a contract or during a mobilization call.
The changes are made to Article 5.1 of the federal law No. 53-FZ of March 28, 1998, "On Military Duty and Military Service" and are included in the bill submitted by the government.
