NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called Russia a long-term threat to NATO on the second day of the summit in Ankara.
Modern.az reports that Rutte stated during his speech that he expects NATO members to collectively confirm this position.
"I expect that today we will collectively recognize Russia as a long-term threat to NATO territory," the Secretary General emphasized.
Rutte noted the importance of NATO remaining strong and also revealed the message addressed to Russia.
"Our message is that we are an Alliance representing 1 billion people living in Europe, Canada, and the United States. NATO will defend every inch of its territory. You cannot defeat NATO. We do not attack anyone. We will only defend our lives, our democracy, and our territory. Do not play games with us," he said.
It should be noted that the Kremlin has repeatedly stated before that Russia has no intention of attacking NATO.
