Six people have died as a result of a 5.1-magnitude earthquake in Peru.
Modern.az reports that this was announced by the chairman of the country's Council of Ministers, Luis Arroyo Sánchez.
"Unfortunately, six people died. We have already offered our condolences to their relatives, and also visited several nearby areas," he said.
According to the head of government, more than 250 houses were damaged and 48 buildings were completely destroyed as a result of the earthquake.
According to the Geophysical Institute of Peru, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake occurred on Saturday evening local time in the Junín department, located in the central part of the country, 7 kilometers south of the city of Chupaca. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 24 kilometers.
