The Russian army launched a missile attack on a civilian dry cargo ship sailing under the flag of Guinea-Bissau.
Modern.az reports that the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine issued a statement about this.
It was stated that as a result of the incident, 5 crew members died, 8 were evacuated, and the fate of 5 more people is currently unknown:
"Russia hit the Turkish-owned 'Golden Leo' ship, which was carrying a cargo of grain, with 3 'X-59/X-69' type cruise missiles. The attack occurred as the ship was leaving the combat zone. A fire started as a result of the missiles hitting the ship's starboard deck. Currently, the search for 5 missing sailors continues, and the technical condition of the ship is being clarified."
It was noted that 8 evacuated crew members were placed in one of the Odessa hospitals.
Ukraine condemned the incident:
"This is another targeted strike by Russia on an unarmed civilian vessel sailing under a foreign flag, which poses no military threat. This attack is an act of terror against peaceful shipping and a gross violation of the norms of international humanitarian law."
