The purpose of the visit of the Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), John Ratcliffe, to Moscow was "contacts between special services."
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov in an interview with The Washington Post. Peskov later said that a meeting or contact between Ratcliffe and Russian President Vladimir Putin was not planned.
"No contacts with Putin are planned," the Kremlin spokesman said.
Information about Ratcliffe's visit to the Russian capital was reported a day earlier by CBS correspondent Jennifer Jacobs and Axios journalist Barak Ravid. John Ratcliffe has served as Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency since January 23, 2025. Previously, from May 2020 to January 2021, he was the head of the US Director of National Intelligence.
Ratcliffe is the first person in US history to lead both the CIA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
He was awarded the "National Security" medal and the US Department of Defense's "Distinguished Public Service" medal.
