The United States is beginning to return personnel to some of its diplomatic missions in the Middle East that were evacuated or had their staff reduced amid tensions with Iran.

According to the information, employees are expected to return to US diplomatic missions in Lebanon, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. In addition, family members of employees will also be allowed to return to the US diplomatic mission in Riyadh. This step by the US indicates that Washington assesses the risk of further escalation of the conflict with Iran in the near future as lower than before. However, some diplomatic missions will not operate with full staff in the initial stage. According to sources, in the first stage, some embassies will operate at a maximum of 85 percent of the approved staff.
Reuters notes that this decision may indicate that the administration of US President Donald Trump does not expect a resumption of large-scale military operations in the conflict with Iran.
