The new position is reflected in the document defining the directions of activity of the Hungarian delegation at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly to be held in September.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that the document was signed by Prime Minister Peter Magyar and published in the official newspaper of the country on August 25.
The document states that “Russia's behavior poses a threat to Hungary, Europe and the global order.” Hungary also condemns Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, and recognizes Kyiv's right to self-defense.
Budapest also announced its support for efforts aimed at conducting negotiations that could lead to lasting peace and long-term security guarantees for Ukraine.
Thus, the position of the new Hungarian government differs significantly from the foreign policy course of the previous government led by Viktor Orban, which was based on closer relations with Moscow.
