Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has been offered a plea bargain in the criminal case against Robert Kocharyan.
Modern.az reports, citing Armenian media, that Sargsyan, who is currently a defendant in the Kocharyan case, has been promised freedom in exchange for testifying against former President Robert Kocharyan.
According to allegations, the main condition of the plea bargain offered to Sargsyan is to give testimony against Kocharyan in the investigation. In return, Sargsyan was told that he would be released from criminal prosecution or that his freedom would be guaranteed.
Sargsyan is one of the defendants in the criminal case against Robert Kocharyan under Article 441, Part 2, Paragraph 5 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. He is reported to have accepted the offer.
It should be noted that earlier it was reported that the court had also chosen a measure of restraint against Sargsyan not to leave the country. His lawyer Amram Makinyan stated that the decision was unfounded and announced that an appeal would be filed.
