The Investigative Committee of Armenia has confirmed the arrest of a second person in connection with the death of a serviceman who was hit by a car on the Chambarak-Vahan road on August 19.
Modern.az reports that, according to Kima Avdalyan, spokesperson for the department, a public criminal prosecution has been initiated against one person under Article 549, Part 3 of the Criminal Code – abuse of power or official position, causing serious harm to human health through negligence.
The suspect has been detained for court appearance. The maximum penalty under the said article is up to 10 years of imprisonment.
Earlier, Armenian media reported that the battalion chief of staff was arrested in connection with the incident. According to the information, that person forced the soldiers to flee.
A criminal prosecution was also previously initiated against the person driving the car in connection with the incident. A measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against the driver.
Thus, criminal prosecution is already being carried out against two persons in connection with the criminal case regarding the death of a serviceman on the Chambarak-Vahan road.
