Terrible disaster in Nepal: 22 dead, 384 missing

The number of people killed in the powerful flood in Nepal has risen to 22, and 384 tourists and travelers are reported missing.

Modern.az reports that, according to preliminary information from the Nepal Tourism Board, 291 of the missing are foreign nationals and 93 are Nepalese citizens.

Among the missing are reportedly citizens of India, Australia, the Netherlands, the USA, Malaysia, Great Britain, and South Africa. The nationality of another 111 people has not yet been determined.

The flood caused particularly severe damage in Nepal's mountainous Rasuwa region, located on the border with China. Strong water currents destroyed settlements, roads, bridges, and energy infrastructure facilities. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.

The disaster also affected China's neighboring Tibet region. The landslide caused serious destruction in the area of Gyrong port. Although the Chinese side announced losses there, it did not provide information on the exact number of dead.
