Five Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers start competing today in the European Championship held in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
Modern.az reports that Islam Bazarqanov (57 kg), Rashid Babazade (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), Jabrayil Hajiyev (79 kg) and Osman Nurmagomedov (97 kg) will take to the mat.
In addition, three Azerbaijani female wrestlers will try their strength in the bronze medal match today. Jala Aliyeva (57 kg), Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) and Birgul Soltanova (65 kg) will try to take third place in the continental championship.
It should be noted that earlier, Greco-Roman wrestlers Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg) and Gurban Gurbanov (82 kg) won gold, and Rashad Mammadov (55 kg), Nihat Mammadli (60 kg), Islam Abbasov (87 kg) won bronze medals. Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestling national team took first place in the team standings. Among women, Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) won a bronze medal.
