“One of the projects I would especially like to emphasize is the restoration of the Imarat Historical-Architectural Museum Complex in Aghdam. This complex is already operating. Today it is one of the places visited in Karabakh, where our cultural heritage is presented. At the same time, work is being carried out towards the restoration of the Asgaran fortress complex. Both the fortress itself and at the same time, the main projects related to the complex - including the organization of the Asgaran Weapons Museum - are being implemented.”
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli in an interview with “AZERTAC”.
The minister said that this will be the first museum that will provide people with scientifically based information about the history of Azerbaijani statehood, and especially its art of war, fighting spirit, and weapons acquired during these historical periods. “The presence of a weapons museum there has a symbolic meaning. Thus, Asgaran fortress was the main defensive stronghold of the Karabakh Khanate, its main shield. The fortress, considered one of the brightest examples of Azerbaijani architecture, was built as a protective shield against attacks on Shusha fortress during the formation of the Karabakh Khanate as a defense system of Asgaran,” A. Karimli noted.
