In the first quarter of 2026, the majority of overnight stays in hotels in Azerbaijan were made by foreigners and stateless persons.
Modern.az reports this with reference to the State Statistical Committee.
Thus, the number of their overnight stays increased by 1.8 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 493.6 thousand, which accounts for 58.9 percent of total overnight stays.
Among foreign tourists, the largest share belongs to citizens of Russia (12.8 percent) and Turkey (12.6 percent). They are followed by India (9.5 percent), Saudi Arabia (6.2 percent), Israel (4.9 percent), Pakistan (4.4 percent) and other countries.
78.9 percent of foreigners' overnight stays were recorded in Baku. Gusar (9.7 percent), Naftalan (5.2 percent), Gabala (2.0 percent) and Guba (1.2 percent) are also among the main destinations where tourist flow is concentrated.
It should be noted that the number of overnight stays by Azerbaijani citizens in hotels was 344.6 thousand, which accounted for 41.1 percent of the total indicator.
