Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who appeared before a court in the US, declared himself not guilty.
Modern.az reports that Maduro, speaking at the court hearing, said, “I am innocent, I am not guilty, I am a dignified person, and I am still the president of my country.”
He stated that he had seen the indictment but had not read it completely, and had partially discussed the document with his lawyer. The judge interrupted him.
Judge Alvin Hellerstein addressed Maduro's wife, Cilia Flores, after Maduro. The judge asked Flores to confirm her identity and state that she was represented by a lawyer. Flores, speaking through an interpreter, also declared herself not guilty.
“I am innocent, completely innocent,” Maduro's wife declared in court.
