Supporters of the Armenian oligarch Samvel Karapetyan, who is under house arrest, have registered a party called "Strong Armenia".
Modern.az reports that the institution's press secretary, Marianna Kagramanyan, informed “Sputnik Armenia” about this. She stated that the organizational work for the party's establishment is in its final stage. The political force will soon present its specific agenda and vision for the country's development.
The organization's coordinator, Narek Karapetyan, will hold a press conference tomorrow.
Samvel Karapetyan himself was returned to house arrest from pre-trial detention a day earlier.
Businessman Samvel Karapetyan was arrested in June 2025 after openly supporting the Armenian Apostolic Church amidst a conflict between the clergy and the authorities. Karapetyan, who denied the charges of attempting a coup d'état, called the government's actions political pressure.
