Iranian authorities approach the negotiations on the regulation of the war with the US with caution and are concerned that it could be a “trap”.
Modern.az reports that "The Wall Street Journal" published information on this matter, citing Iranian and Arab officials.
According to the information, it is believed in Tehran that possible private meetings with the US could pose a threat to the life of the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. It is reported that Washington intends to negotiate specifically with him. It is noted that Ghalibaf has not been a target of Israeli attacks during the war.
Furthermore, former US President Donald Trump's statements regarding a five-day pause before strikes on energy infrastructure also raised suspicion in Tehran. The Iranian side believes that this step could be aimed at temporarily lowering oil prices and subsequently resuming attacks.
