In 2026, an increase was mainly recorded in the passing scores of medical and health-oriented specialties in the admission results for the IV specialty group of higher education institutions.
Modern.az website compared the passing scores of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Public Health and Nursing (brother) specialties based on the data announced by the State Examination Center for 2025 and 2026.
According to the data, while the passing score for Medicine at Azerbaijan Medical University was 624.3 in 2025, it increased to 638.5 points in 2026. Thus, the passing score for this specialty increased by 14.2 points within one year. In both years, the passing score for state order was formed at the same indicator.
An increase was also recorded in the Medicine specialty taught in English. The passing score for this specialty was 683.7 in 2025 and 692.8 points in 2026. The annual increase was 9.1 points.
While the passing score for Dentistry at Azerbaijan Medical University was 615.5 in 2025, it reached 627.8 points in 2026. With this, the indicator increased by 12.3 points.
The passing score in Physiotherapy increased from 603.4 to 616.5 points, and in Public Health from 593 to 606.6 points. The increase was 13.1 and 13.6 points, respectively.
In the Pharmacy specialty, the passing score in 2025 was 580.6. In 2026, the passing score on a paid basis was 586.2, and for state order it was 587.4 points. Compared to last year, the indicator increased by 5.6 points on a paid basis and by 6.8 points for state order.
Among the compared specialties at Azerbaijan Medical University, a decrease was recorded in Nursing (brother) work. While the passing score for this specialty was 547.8 in 2025, it decreased to 517.6 points in 2026. Thus, there was a decrease of 30.2 points.
An increase in passing scores for Medicine and Dentistry specialties was also observed at Nakhchivan State University.
The passing score for Medicine at the university was 604.1 in 2025 and 622.2 points in 2026. The indicator increased by 18.1 points within one year.
The passing score for Medicine taught in English reached from 607.3 to 624.6 points. The increase for this specialty was 17.3 points.
At Nakhchivan State University, the passing score for Dentistry on a paid basis was 600.4 in 2025, and for state order it was 600.9. In 2026, both indicators were 620.6 points. Thus, the passing score on a paid basis increased by 20.2 points, and for state order by 19.7 points.
An increase was also recorded in the Public Health specialty. The passing score, which was 582 in 2025, increased to 588.7 points in 2026.
In the Pharmacy specialty, on the other hand, an opposite dynamic was observed. While the passing score for this specialty at Nakhchivan State University was 566.7 in 2025, it decreased to 508.9 points in 2026. The decrease was 57.8 points.
The indicator also decreased in the Nursing (brother) work specialty. The passing score decreased from 482.4 in 2025 to 430 points in 2026. The difference is 52.4 points.
Thus, in 2026, an increase was recorded in specialties with high passing scores such as Medicine and Dentistry, both at Azerbaijan Medical University and Nakhchivan State University. While the increase for Medicine at Azerbaijan Medical University was 14.2 points and for Dentistry 12.3 points, these indicators were 18.1 and 20.2 points respectively at Nakhchivan State University.
The comparison also shows that the same dynamic was not formed in all health-oriented specialties. Although passing scores decreased in some universities for Pharmacy and Nursing (brother) work, an increase was mainly recorded in Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy and Public Health specialties.
