The Scottish Parliament has supported the initiative for an independence referendum from the United Kingdom.
Modern.az reports that the Scottish government announced this on the social network X.
"Parliament has voted in favor of holding calls for a referendum on Scottish independence," the post noted.
According to The National, the majority of deputies supported the initiative (72 votes in favor, 55 votes against). First Minister John Swinney appealed to the UK government, demanding an order in accordance with Article 30 of the Scotland Act 1998.
