Armed individuals attacked a police post in southwestern Pakistan, killing nine police officers and injuring several others.
Modern.az reports that the attack occurred on Monday night in a remote area of Ziarat district in Balochistan province.
According to the police, the attackers abducted eight policemen, but all were later freed as a result of an operation by security forces.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind stated that the operation concluded with the killing of 15 militants. He emphasized that intelligence operations against armed groups will continue and that the authorities intend to respond decisively to any attack on security forces.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, it is suspected to be the work of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army in Pakistan.
