Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that a decision has been made regarding the reconstruction of railway sections in the directions of Arasdayan-Nakhchivan and Akhurik-Turkish border.
Modern.az reports that Pashinyan stated that the reconstruction of the mentioned railway sections will be carried out at the expense of the Armenian state budget.
The Armenian Prime Minister was asked whether the Russian side could refuse this project within the framework of the concession agreement on railways. Pashinyan denied such an approach and stated that it is not about Russia's refusal, but about Yerevan's sovereign decision regarding the financing of the project.
The head of the Armenian government has been raising the issue of repairing the mentioned railway lines in the context of relations with Russia since December 2025. Pashinyan announced in May of this year that the government would bear those costs.
Later, the Armenian Prime Minister initiated a review of the terms of Russia's concession for the management of the country's railway infrastructure.
