Farah Pahlavi, the wife of the overthrown Shah of Iran, currently living in America, has appealed to Iranians in exile.

Modern.az reports that Farah Pahlavi, of Azerbaijani origin, expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made for the 47th anniversary of her late husband Mohammad Reza Pahlavi's death to be commemorated in Egypt.

“The Arab Republic of Egypt and its presidents have treated the Pahlavi family with brotherly love from day one until today, always standing by us. I will always be grateful for this sincere friendship and attention,” she said.

In her social media appeal, Farah Pahlavi stated that this year, considering security issues and the complex situation in the region, the Egyptian government deemed it appropriate to hold the memorial ceremony in a limited format, with only the Pahlavi family in attendance.

“This year, in your absence, I will respectfully commemorate the dear memory of the Shahanshah not only on my own behalf but also on behalf of all of you,” she declared to the exiled Iranians.

It should be recalled that the Shah's regime in Iran – the Pahlavi dynasty – was overthrown in 1979.

The Pahlavis seized power in 1925 with the help of the British, overthrowing the Qajars, the last Turkic dynasty in Iran. The Pahlavi dynasty, which ruled Iran between 1925 and 1979, is remembered as the most brutal regime.

In 1979, the Shah's rule was overthrown, and the Islamic Republic of Iran was declared.

As a result, the Shah's family fled from Iran to Egypt. Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi died of cancer on July 27, 1980, at the age of 60, in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

After the Shah's death, the Egyptian president allocated a palace for his family to live in. However, due to the assassination of the Egyptian president, Farah Pahlavi and her children left the country and, at the invitation of US President Reagan, traveled across the ocean.

Farah Pahlavi is the 3rd wife of the overthrown Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Farah Pahlavi, a Persianized Azerbaijani, wishes for the overthrow of the current regime in Iran. Her desire is for her son Reza Pahlavi to come to power in Iran.

Farah Pahlavi and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi had 4 children.

In 2001, Farah Pahlavi's youngest daughter, Leila, passed away in the USA.

In 2011, another misfortune befell the family: the Shah's youngest son, Alireza Pahlavi, committed suicide by shooting himself.

Today, Farah Pahlavi, her eldest son Reza Pahlavi, and her eldest daughter Farahnaz live in Washington.

The Pahlavi family currently holds the status of an "undesirable family" in Iran.
