The Constitutional Court of Moldova has abolished the right of the Gagauzia Autonomous Region to independently form its Central Election Commission and hold elections.
Modern.az reports that local media spread information about this.
Domnica Manole, chairman of the Constitutional Court, stated that the court considered the provisions giving the Gagauz parliament the authority to independently form the autonomy's CEC to be contrary to the Constitution.
According to her, all election processes held on the territory of Moldova must comply with the country's Election Code, and those norms have superior legal force.
