As of early 2026, a total of 3481 pigs have been registered in Azerbaijan. The same indicator was 3103 last year.
According to information obtained by Modern.az from the State Statistical Committee, pigs are most commonly kept in Qakh district, while no pigs have been registered at all in approximately 50 districts of the country.
Districts with the Highest Number of Pigs:
The main portion of pigs across the country falls within the Sheki–Zagatala economic region. Specifically, a total of 2015 pigs have been registered in this region:
Qakh district – 1277 head
Gabala district – 683 head
Oghuz district – 55 head
However, there are no pigs in Balakan, Sheki, and Zagatala districts.
Baku and Nakhchivan:
There are 617 pigs in Baku city. All pigs are located in Sabunchu district. No pigs have been registered in other districts.
In the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as in the previous year, no pigs have been registered as of early 2026.
Absheron–Khizi economic region:
A total of 15 pigs are present in this economic region, and all of them are kept in Khizi district. It should be noted that 18 pigs were registered in Khizi last year.
However, there are no pigs in Sumgait city and Absheron district.
Mountainous Shirvan economic region:
There are 205 pigs in this region, and all of them are located in Ismayilli district.
No pigs have been registered in Aghsu, Gobustan, and Shamakhi districts.
Ganja–Dashkasan economic region:
A total of 345 pigs are present in this economic region:
Dashkasan district – 100 head
Goranboy district – 45 head
Goygol district – 200 head
There are no pigs in Ganja and Naftalan cities, as well as in Samukh district.
Karabakh economic region:
A total of 25 pigs have been registered in this region. 10 of them are kept in Aghdara, and 15 in Tartar. No pigs were registered in Karabakh in 2025.
Gazakh–Tovuz economic region:
There are 88 pigs in this economic region, and all of them are located in Gadabay district. It should be noted that a total of 74 pigs were present in this economic region last year.
Guba–Khachmaz economic region:
A total of 69 pigs are present in this region:
Guba district – 30 head
Gusar district – 15 head
Siyazan district – 17 head
Shabran district – 7 head
There are no pigs in Khachmaz district.
Mil–Mughan economic region:
Only 2 pigs have been registered in this economic region, and all of them are kept in Sabirabad district.
Eastern Zangezur economic region:
There are 100 pigs in this economic region, and all of them are located in Kalbajar district.
Regions Without Pig Farming
No pigs have been registered in any of the 13 districts included in the Lankaran-Astara, as well as the Central Aran economic regions.
