As Eid al-Adha approaches, activity in markets and sales points increases. On the eve of the holiday, especially as demand for sacrificial animals and food products rises, discussions about prices also become relevant. In some cases, sellers are observed to artificially increase prices by taking advantage of the opportunity, which creates dissatisfaction in society.
In his statement to Modern.az on the topic, Haji Surkhay Mammadli, the akhund of "Icherisheher" Juma Mosque, first noted that during Eid al-Adha, people show mercy to each other, share, and support each other.
"Generally, these holidays call people to mercy and compassion. But unfortunately, in recent years, on the eve of Eid al-Adha, Ramadan, and Novruz holidays, we witness artificial price increases in some cases. This is not in line with the essence of the holiday. If we talk about mercy, kindness, and sincerity, if this holiday is a holiday of brotherhood, solidarity, and social sharing, then allowing such situations cannot be considered acceptable. If a person forgets mercy on holiday days, disrespects others, they cannot earn reward here. Because the purpose of the sacrifice worship is to get closer to Allah. If someone artificially increases prices on these days, this will neither please Allah nor be approved among people."
The theologian also made a call to the public regarding artificial price increases in his statement to our website:
"My call regarding price increases is that such situations should not be allowed. Neither our religion nor humanity allows this. If celebrating the holiday cannot unite us, does not form the feeling of sharing, this is already against the spirit of the holiday and Allah would not approve of it."

Haji Surkhay Mammadli also clarified the issue of distributing meat after the sacrifice:
"Regarding the distribution of meat after the sacrifice, the main goal here is sharing. The concept of sacrifice is not just about slaughtering an animal, but also means getting closer to Allah. The essence of this worship is to help people, support the poor, and strengthen fraternal relations. The reward of the sacrifice lies precisely in this sharing, in people supporting each other.
Sacrificial meat is usually divided into three parts. One part is given to the person who made the sacrifice, one part is given to the poor and needy for assistance, and the other part is distributed to brothers and sisters. The main goal is to share, help, and make people happy.
This historical event that happened thousands of years ago teaches people sacrifice, loyalty, brotherhood, and friendship. Therefore, it is necessary to try to help people in need first during Eid al-Adha, visit graves, remember relatives, visit elderly people, go to nursing homes, take care of orphans and share their sorrow. This is the tradition and symbol of this holiday."
