Information has been disseminated that Mojtaba Khamenei, the 56-year-old son of Iran's killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been chosen to succeed him.

Modern.az reports that some foreign media outlets have disseminated information regarding this.

According to claims, Iran's Assembly of Experts, composed of clerics, decided to elect Mojtaba Khamenei as Supreme Leader under pressure from SEPAH.

However, there is currently no official confirmation of Mojtaba Khamenei's election as Iran's new Supreme Leader.

Mojtaba Khamenei joined the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (SEPAH) at the age of 17 and fought in the 27th “Muhammad Rasulullah” Division during the Iran-Iraq War.

In 1999, he studied at the religious seminary in Qom. Hardline ayatollahs, including Mohammad Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi, played a significant role in his formation. Subsequently, he began working in the Supreme Leader's Office and was prepared by his father to manage the system.

According to unofficial information, Mojtaba played a direct role in suppressing the recent protests in Iran and encouraged security forces to take harsher measures.

Mojtaba Khamenei is known as a supporter of his father's ideological line – the principle of absolute Wilayat al-Faqih and the export of the revolution.

According to claims, absolute control over SEPAH is also in Mojtaba Khamenei's hands. According to information, the main network within SEPAH is loyal to Mojtaba Khamenei. Mojtaba Khamenei is also said to maintain control over the "Basij" paramilitary force.

It should be recalled that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was killed on February 28 as a result of US and Israeli airstrikes.
