A direct air link between Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, is planned for the first time in decades.

Modern.az reports, citing Armenian media, that according to "Uzbekistan Airports", regular passenger flights may begin in May 2026. Flights are planned to be operated once a week with Boeing 737 aircraft.

The route is expected to strengthen tourism and business ties between Armenia and Uzbekistan and expand travel options for passengers. Previously, travel on this route was only possible with transfers via Moscow, Istanbul and Tbilisi.

The airline will be Armenia's "Shirak Avia" airline, based at Zvartnots airport in Yerevan.
