The US will stop collecting federal fuel taxes due to rapidly rising prices.
Modern.az reports that US President Donald Trump confirmed this information in a conversation with journalists at the White House.
When asked how long this decision would remain in effect, the American leader replied: "As long as it is expedient. As soon as all this with Iran is over, you will see the price of gasoline and oil drop like a rock."
Trump stated that the US and Israeli military operation against Iran led to a redistribution of the world energy market and its reorientation towards oil purchases from the United States. In addition, he clarified that the conflict between Tehran and Washington led to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and problems with the supply of energy resources. This forced importers in the Middle East to look for other sources of supply, and the US was the winner.
It should be recalled that the price of gasoline in the US as of May 10 was $4.52 per gallon (3.78 l), already reaching a maximum for the period since 2022. However, American experts assume that even if the conflict ends relatively quickly, fuel prices in the US will fall at a slow pace.
