Official information regarding the leadership of the Republican People's Party (CHP) has been updated after the court decision in Turkey.
Modern.az reports that the 36th Civil Chamber of the Ankara Regional Court of Appeal ruled on May 21 that the CHP's congress held on November 4-5, 2023, was “absolutely invalid.”
After the court decision, the Turkish Chief Public Prosecutor's Office changed the official database regarding political parties. Thus, Özgür Özel's name was removed from the “Party Chairman” section and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's name was recorded in his place.
According to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the CHP currently has 1 million 922 thousand 757 registered members.
