“Rosselkhoznadzor” plans to impose temporary restrictions on the import of a number of berries and fresh vegetables (including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, greens and strawberries) sent from Armenia to Russia, effective from May 30, 2026.
Modern.az reports that, according to the agency's statement, this decision aims to ensure phytosanitary safety and is linked to violations found in products imported from Armenia. It is noted that the restrictions will remain in force until a new mechanism is developed and implemented.
The Armenian side is alleged to have not adequately reacted to previously detected violations. Also, during inspections conducted between May 21 and 27, 2026, quarantine objects were found in greenhouses, which was assessed as a risk for the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
“Rosselkhoznadzor” also states that a total of 181 such cases have been recorded since the beginning of 2026. The agency added that some supplies are carried out through foreign economic activity participants who are not properly registered, which creates problems in tracking the product.
