Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the North Atlantic Council meeting held within the framework of NATO's 36th Summit of Heads of State and Government.

Modern.az reports that in his speech, Erdogan spoke about Turkey's achievements in the defense industry, cooperation within NATO, the situation in the Middle East, the Iran crisis, and the Russia-Ukraine war.

He stated that one of Turkey's greatest successes is its achievements in the defense industry:

"We have entered the top 10 countries in the world in terms of production and export potential."

Erdogan emphasized that as a country with the largest land army in Europe, Turkey is ready to offer its capabilities to the alliance in all areas where NATO needs them.

The Turkish leader noted that his country has taken the necessary measures to increase defense spending to 3.5 percent of GDP before 2030.

He stressed the importance of removing restrictions in the defense industry within NATO, stating that excluding non-allied partners from defense projects could lead to artificial divisions in Europe.

Erdogan added that as a country successfully using unmanned aerial vehicles, Turkey wishes for the accreditation of the "Counter-Unmanned Systems Centre of Excellence" by NATO.

Touching upon the issue of Iran, the Turkish President said:

"I highly appreciate the resolute stance shown by my friend Donald Trump in resolving the Iran crisis, despite provocative attempts. We are ready to make the necessary contribution to clearing the Strait of Hormuz of mines."

Erdogan once again emphasized that lasting peace in the Middle East is only possible through a two-state solution.

He stated that all countries must fulfill their responsibilities to ensure stability, especially in Gaza and Lebanon.

Touching upon the Russia-Ukraine war, the Turkish President noted that Ankara continues its support for Ukraine, while also keeping dialogue channels open to encourage Russia to peace.

Erdogan added:

"We share Mr. Trump's vision for peace regarding the Ukraine war and express our support for the initiative on Ukraine's priority needs."

At the end of his speech, the Turkish President emphasized the importance of full solidarity among NATO allies against all forms and manifestations of terrorism.
