The UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO) has announced that it has received information about two oil tankers being attacked by missiles near the coast of Limah, Oman.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that the tankers were targeted while leaving the Strait of Hormuz via the southern route.
UKMTO stated that information regarding both incidents was received on July 13. Although the exact time of the attacks has not been disclosed, investigations into the incidents are underway.
The agency also reported that a third tanker was attacked near the coast of Qalhat, Oman. According to the information, the incident was recorded last night at 21:04 UTC (01:04 Baku time).
The UKMTO statement noted that the captain of the tanker reported that the engine room on the starboard side of the vessel was hit by an unknown projectile. It is reported that all crew members are safe and there has been no environmental damage.
Previously, the Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates announced that two oil tankers named "Mombasa" and "Al Bahiyah" were targeted by Iranian cruise missiles in Omani waters while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the ministry, one crew member, an Indian national, was killed in the attack, and eight others were injured. Six of the injured are Indian nationals, and two are Ukrainian nationals.
Currently, it has not been clarified whether the tankers mentioned in the UKMTO report are the "Mombasa" and "Al Bahiyah" vessels whose names were disclosed by the UAE Ministry of Defense.
