European Union leaders are preparing to discuss the issue of possible talks with Russia.
Modern.az reports this, citing a statement to journalists by Kaya Kallas, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
“Before discussing any issue with Russia, we must decide among ourselves what topics we will negotiate.
This issue will be discussed by the foreign ministers of the EU countries at the informal “Gymnich” format meeting to be held at the end of May.
European security and preventing possible Russian attacks on neighboring countries will be one of the main topics of discussion,” Kallas emphasized.
The EU official also ruled out the possibility of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder being appointed as the European Union's representative in talks with Russia.
It should be noted that such a proposal was previously voiced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
